001 - video

[Gou comes on screen, and her Plusle's hanging out on her shoulder. Looks like he's catching a nap.]

Hey, what level should these guys be before trying to take on a gym? There's one in Violet, right? We're -- uh, Makoto-senpai and me -- are heading that way, and it seems like it'd be really fun to do!

[She glances over at the Plusle, still napping.]

Oh, and what kind of nickname would you give a Pidgey? She's in her pokeball right now, but I can't seem to think of anything good right now. There's a lotta pressure, I mean, I'm gonna be calling it that every battle from now on...

I mean, I guess they could go without one, but... it seems a little easier to have nicknames, especially if I might end up with doubles or triples of the same type.

Uh, I think that's everything... [The red pikachu (yeah, she's still internally calling it that sometimes) shifts a bit, rubbing the electric pouhcy bit riiight across her shoulder-- meaning, shock time.] Ow! Jeez, watch it, Piccolo! [She binks him in the forehead.] That's for other pokemon, not me--

One of each kind, maybe two or three... I kinda juggle my roster depending on what I'm up against, but the tradeoff's that I've got way too many Pokémon and not enough time to spend with them one on one.

But you're on the right track. Honestly, team building's one of those things that can be as simple or as complicated as you need it to be. I mean, once you start going into types, that's when it gets starts getting crazy. Maybe part of the reason that so many Gym Leaders stick to one type is to keep things basic.

Well, the boxes aren't limitless. Don't know the exact number off the top of my head, but I wanna say it's around seventy? Eighty? Definitely more than you'll need, but I'm not the best example.

[Sure, he doesn't have as many as some folks have had, like Tenten and John, but fifty's still a lot to care for at once.

Her comment on moves makes him grin, though.]

That's exactly what I do. Like my Charizard, Flare... he's got ThunderPunch and Solarbeam to take care of water types. And some Pokémon, like normal types, can learn just about anything. If you use stuff like that to your advantage, it'll definitely give you an edge.
