Hey, what level should these guys be before trying to take on a gym? There's one in Violet, right? We're -- uh, Makoto-senpai and me -- are heading that way, and it seems like it'd be really fun to do!

Oh, and what kind of nickname would you give a Pidgey? She's in her pokeball right now, but I can't seem to think of anything good right now. There's a lotta pressure, I mean, I'm gonna be calling it that every battle from now on...

I mean, I guess they could go without one, but... it seems a little easier to have nicknames, especially if I might end up with doubles or triples of the same type.

[The red pikachu (yeah, she's still internally calling it that sometimes) shifts a bit, rubbing the electric pouhcy bit riiight across her shoulder-- meaning, shock time.] Ow! The first gym is actually rather hard for people who are starting out. Yo need to be at least level thirty if you wish to win.

Unfortunately, I'm traveling through Kanto, so I don't know about training places in Johto. Though if you train on all the routes which you travel in, you should be fine. Also challenging the trainers on the way helps.

Yeah... I mean, I'm sure they've got a lot of untapped potential, but they're... like, not darkness crows or eagle chicks or anything. They're just kinda sparrows that can take you out if all your Pokemon are unconscious or something. Maybe if you don't have an Electric type?
