001 - video

[Gou comes on screen, and her Plusle's hanging out on her shoulder. Looks like he's catching a nap.]

Hey, what level should these guys be before trying to take on a gym? There's one in Violet, right? We're -- uh, Makoto-senpai and me -- are heading that way, and it seems like it'd be really fun to do!

[She glances over at the Plusle, still napping.]

Oh, and what kind of nickname would you give a Pidgey? She's in her pokeball right now, but I can't seem to think of anything good right now. There's a lotta pressure, I mean, I'm gonna be calling it that every battle from now on...

I mean, I guess they could go without one, but... it seems a little easier to have nicknames, especially if I might end up with doubles or triples of the same type.

Uh, I think that's everything... [The red pikachu (yeah, she's still internally calling it that sometimes) shifts a bit, rubbing the electric pouhcy bit riiight across her shoulder-- meaning, shock time.] Ow! Jeez, watch it, Piccolo! [She binks him in the forehead.] That's for other pokemon, not me--

...You know, I ended up calling my Spearow Pecky and she likes it just fine, but I have to admit it's not very creative or fancy.

There are a lot of extremely fancy mythological names out there, too, so it's not like creative means unique.

Something suitably imposing and powerful, definitely. I don't think a lot of people call their Charizards 'Scaly'.

...Cute, but I'm not sure a Fire-type would like to be named after cream.

Probably. Then again, if you call out for Creamsicle in battle, trainers will mentally prepare for an Ice-type and be surprised by the big fiery lizard.

Exactly! By the time they realize what's going on, the flames have done their work and you have the advantage.
